April 24 - May 19, 2017

 


This four-week online course provides an overview of acquiring, providing access to, administering, supporting, and monitoring access to electronic resources. The course offers a basic background in electronic resource acquisitions including:


Product trials
Licensing
Purchasing methods
Pricing models


An overview of the sometimes complex relationships between vendors, publishers, platform providers, and libraries is also provided.


Weekly Chat Schedule:  The following times are tentative and may change according to instructor availability.


Week One: Wednesday at 1:00 pm CDT
Week Two: Tuesday at 12:00 noon CDT
Week Three: Tuesday at 11:00 am CDT
Week Four: Thursday at 2:00 pm CDT


Learning Outcomes
Students will gain a basic background in electronic resource acquisitions including product trials, licensing, purchasing methods, pricing models


Who Should Attend
This is a fundamentals course that will appeal to anyone interested in the topic with no previous experience.
