Call for TechSpace Lightning Talks and Posters

The SEFLIN Regional Conference Planning Committee seeks proposals for TechSpace lightning talks and Posters for the 2015 SEFLIN Regional Conference: "Connections: Libraries, Users, and Technology." These short format presentations will have designated time slots in the conference program.

  • TechSpace lightning talk: TechSpace presenters introduce their topic in a 5-minute lightning talk. Presenters submit their slides for the lightning talk before the conference and a single combined PowerPoint is produced to allow presenters to blaze through their topics in 5 minutes or less. Time is allotted for discussion after the presentations.
  • Poster session: Tables will be set up for poster presentations during the long break following the morning’s general session. Poster session presenters are expected to be available to describe the technology or technology service. Posters must be table top displays – the conference facility does not have wall or bulletin board space for hanging posters.
TechSpace and Posters should address topics related to the conference theme of Connections: Libraries, Users, and Technology. These may include, but are not limited to:
  • Learning and keeping up with new technology and trends
  • Creative and maker spaces (3D printing, Music, Video, etc.)
  • MOOCs in libraries and other learning opportunities
  • Cloud computing for personal use and for library services
  • Designing library web pages
  • Using apps and devices to connect users to technology in libraries
  • Libraries as publishers
  • Patron-driven/demand-driven acquisitions of e-resources
  • Energizing and assessing information literacy
  • Embedded librarianship and other collaborative library services
  • Transforming library space to meet user needs and demands for technology
  • Establishing and fostering successful library partnerships with academic and/or community partners
  • Library Marketing (Content Marketing, SEO strategies, increasing usage through technology, and attracting new users)
  • Digitization of library collections
  • Gaming in libraries

Proposal submission

When preparing your proposal, please keep in mind that we are looking for a mixture of sessions that address topics related to the conference theme of Connections: Libraries, Users, and Technology and should appeal to a wide range of libraries and address technology trends and tools that are of high interest to libraries.

The deadline for submitting a TechSpace or Poster proposal form is April 1, 2015.

Presenters will be notified of acceptance by May 1, 2015 and will sign a Letter of Agreement to present. One presenter for each TechSpace or Poster presentation will receive complimentary registration for the conference. Registration will open on or about May 1, 2014. If selected as a presenter, you will be sent instructions on how to register as a presenter.
