Welcome from the Chairs

The Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIMB) is sponsoring the “2nd International Conference on Natural Product Discovery and Development in the Genomic Era” to be held in Clearwater Beach, Florida, January 21-24, 2018. The first very successful conference in this series was held in San Diego in 2015. The current meeting is being organized by a distinguished group of international scientists, and honors Professors Christopher Walsh and Heinz Floss for their seminal contributions on natural product biosynthesis which have helped enable many current advances on natural product drug discovery and development. The meeting will include an opening address, two poster sessions, and six plenary sessions covering: Natural Products in the Environment; Chemical Biology of Natural Products; Natural Product Drug Development; Enzymology of Natural Product Biosynthesis; Microbial Genome Mining; and Activation of Cryptic Natural Product Pathways.
