By the end of this course you should be aware of how the global economy impacts your local
real estate market and be prepared to serve foreign clients and customers in your local market.

You will learn:

  • How to identify local market opportunities and prospect for global business in your local market.
  • How to adapt your core real estate skills and knowledge base to service foreign and diverse clients and customers.
  • How to develop a network of contacts that can lead to referral business.
  • To recognize available visa statuses for foreign real estate owners and investors and guide foreign clients and customers to see expert advice.

Course note: This course is the prerequisite course for the CIPS Designation. You must take this course before taking any other CIPS courses. Upon completion of this course, you will receive elective credit towards the ABR and CRS designation (applies to U.S. members only).

The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Designation

International real estate opportunities are everywhere.  New people move to the U.S. from other countries every day and foreign-born individuals residing in the U.S. move to new markets.  Americans in your current market invest in property overseas.  No matter which international audience you cater to , the CIPS Designation will provide you with the knowledge , research, network and tools to globalize your business.

  • Exchange transaction referrals with worldwide agents.
  • Become a skilled resource in the unique aspects of international real estate; understand cultural communications, international business and customs that impact the global real estate market.
  • Join the specialty networking group, CIPS Network, exclusive to international practitioners.

Course Note: In order to receive this designation, you must be a member of the National Association of REALTORS®. Non-members can take these courses but will not be awarded the REALTOR® family designation.

To be eligible for the CIPS Designation, you must complete 2 Core courses and 3 elective courses.
