2015 UMA Capitol Hill Days

March 17-18, 2015 | Washington, DC

All UMA members are invited and encouraged to participate in UMA’s Capitol Hill Days on March 17-18, 2015. This is your opportunity to come to Washington, DC to interact with your Congressional delegates and important agency officials and make sure your voice is heard.

Owners and senior management from bus and motorcoach companies from around the nation will gather to meet with their Congressional elected officials to discuss the industry's most pressing legislative issues. UMA's key message points for Congress this year will be focused on policies likely to be addressed in reauthorization of the upcoming surface transportation bill. Issues of importance to UMA members will include: preservation of Charter Service Rule prohibiting public transits from encroaching on charter business, Protection of the federal fuel tax exemption for over-the-road buses, maintaining the current financial responsibility at $5 million, increased opportunities for contracting with local transit agencies and a host of regulatory reforms that include due process for Imminent Hazard and Out-of-Service orders, prohibition on third-party inspection requirements, local entity requirements for registrations of charter bus operators and en route inspections.
