WGR Step Into Power: Skill Building for WGR Leadership (WGR Leadership Only)

Event Description

How can you make the most of your WGR leadership experience while improving your professional skills?

We are excited to offer an exclusive opportunity for task force and committee co-chairs to attend “Step into Power – Skill Building for WGR Leadership Teams”. This information will help you to be a better leader for WGR and give you tips for collaborating with your colleagues, friends, and family.

We designed this workshop for WGR leaders because successful leadership, management, and collaboration requires leaders to effectively deal with differences in work or problem-solving styles so that the differences are an asset rather than a distraction. The challenge is that differences in problem-solving style can cause friction and even the mistaken judgment that the differences in style are actually lack of competence, ability, or commitment. Thus, the ability to understand and identify colleagues’ problem-solving style will help you lead your task force even more effectively.

This program will improve your awareness and understanding of self and others and, importantly, focus on strategies to work more effectively with the range of problem-solving styles that are likely present on your leadership team. And don’t forget the collateral benefits of better managing up, down, and peer-to-peer at work!

To establish the foundation for understanding problem-solving style, we’re using the Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory (“KAI”), a well-regarded assessment tool based on Adaption-Innovation Theory. All participants will take the KAI in advance of the workshop.

Why participate?  Because understanding differences in problem-solving style will give you the advantage that comes with insight by helping you to:

  • Understand and identify colleagues’ problem-solving style;
  • Make the most of your own style;
  • Work with WGR and your day-job colleagues more effectively and with less stress; and
  • Be a better manager of people, even if you aren’t quite there yet.

Lunch will be provided.
