Event Description

Please join the State Relations Task Force for a brown-bag lunch on working with boards and commissions.

Hundreds of state and local boards and commissions across the country play important roles ranging from the advisory, to policymaking, to supervisory. Often overlooked, these bodies present opportunities to make an impact, whether you are looking to inform the debate as a GR professional or hoping to serve your community as an engaged citizen. Our speakers, representing the governments of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, will discuss the different types of boards and commissions in their jurisdictions and avenues for you to get involved.

Speakers:

  • Traci DeShazor, Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Stephanie Rotondo, Placement Director, Appointments Office, State of Maryland
  • Steven Walker, Director, Mayor’s Office of Talent and Appointments, District of Columbia
