Event Description

Professional Development - Advocacy & Grassroots: Training Skills for the Public Affairs Professional
Does your organization need a point person to train your members, employees or leadership on how to be an effective advocate? Then we've got the session for you.

WGR is partnering with Stephanie Vance, the Advocacy Guru at Advocacy Associates, to present a half-day session to provide government relations professionals with the skills they need to increase advocate effectiveness. Topics include:

  • How to prepare advocates for Capitol Hill meetings as well as ongoing advocacy efforts back in the districts
  • How to inspire advocates to develop their own stories and how those stories relate to core policy messages
  • The best ways to respond to advocate concerns, such as working with staff and hostile legislators
  • How to mitigate common DC meeting questions, such as "what should I wear" and even the "where's the bathroom" question (always a big one).
  • How to work interactive exercises and a little fun into your session

You'll come away with a step-by-step plan for making your next advocacy training session the best yet.

A light breakfast will be served.
