Got Mentorship?

Historically, AAP's Annual Meeting has fostered an atmosphere that has inspired academic connections! At the start of this year’s meeting, AAP mentors will be officially recognized as wearing “mentor ribbons” signifying their commitment and openness to informal interaction with potential mentees during the Annual Aeeting. Formal, or more structured events sponsored by the Career Development Committee include:  CV Boot Camp and the Mentor-Mentee Breakfast.

The CV Boot Camp provides 1:1 and small group discussion and a curriculum vitae review by senior level psychiatrists during breakfast, 7-8am on Thursday, September 22nd. CV Boot Camp attendees should bring their vitae along with specific questions for mentors.

The Mentor-Mentee Breakfast will also takes place 7-8am, Thursday, September 22nd.

The Mentor-Mentee Breakfast, designed for early career faculty members and trainees, is intended to foster future collaboration and scholarly and career mentoring. Mentors will be available to discuss a variety of topics, including academic careers for clinician-educators, educational research, manuscript preparation, job searches, CV building and grant funding.

Become a Mentor

We want to continue to offer opportunities for mentors and mentees to connect at the onset of the meeting. If you can serve as an AAP mentor during the meeting or if you are interested in participating in the mentor-mentee events, contact Suzanne Murray, MD, at sbmurray@uw.edu. When preregistering for the meeting, be sure to indicate your interest to be a mentor. Mentors will be provided name-badge ribbons. Mentors agree to meet with mentees formally during the CV boot camp, mentor breakfast, and opening session, as well as informally throughout the annual meeting.
