Air Committee
The AEF’s Air Committee works to keep our members informed about issues such as ozone, particulate matter, air emissions standards, green house gas reporting, MACT standards, permitting, inspections and enforcement initiatives. The Committee also plans and conducts an annual Air Regulations Update Seminar and an Air segment in the AEF’s Annual Convention & Trade Show designed to educate industries on their obligations in air pollution control. The Committee meets at the call of the Chair and is open to all AEF members in good standing. Member companies may have more than one representative on the Air Committee.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of the AEF consists of members who are selected by the membership at large at the AEF’s Annual Convention & Trade Show. The Board must have at least ten members, but no more than thirty and each serves a six year staggered term. Vacancies may be temporarily filled by the Board. In addition, the AEF Board may select up to five ex-officio non-voting members to serve designated terms in an advisory capacity. The Board is granted broad authority to conduct the business affairs of the AEF. The Board’s officers include the President, President-elect and Secretary/Treasurer.

Governmental Affairs
The AEF’s Government Affairs Committee advises the Board and staff on issues related to coordinating the AEF’s activities as they interface with local, state, regional and federal agencies and governing bodies. The Committee considers the impact of AEF initiatives on relationships with those groups, conducts public relations with government agencies and the state legislature, develops the AEF’s legislative agenda and reviews proposed legislation. The Committee works to inform the AEF membership, similar associations, administrative officials and state legislators of the potential impact of legislation on Arkansas’s industries. The Committee oversees the weekly distribution of the AEF’s Legislative Bulletin during legislative sessions. The Committee meets at the call of the Chair and is open to AEF members in good standing. Member companies may have more than one representative on the Membership Committee.

Membership Committee
The AEF’s Membership Committee directs the organization’s efforts to grow and retain its membership. The Committee focuses on the promotion of the AEF to targeted industries and advises the Board and staff on the best practices to foster a growing and dynamic membership. The Committee meets at the call of the Chair and is open to AEF members in good standing. Member companies may have more than one representative on the Membership Committee.

Public Education Committee
The AEF’s Public Education and Special Projects Committee leads the AEF’s efforts in outreach to the general public and educational institutions throughout the state. The Committee directs the AEF’s programs, such as the Student Convention Program, the Randall Mathis and Larry Wilson Scholarships for Environmental/Engineering Studies, sponsorship of Regional Science Fairs and the Arkansas Academy of Science Awards, and the AEF Diamond Award for Excellence in Environmental Leadership. The Committee is responsible for fundraising to support these initiatives, including the AEF’s annual golf tournament in conjunction with the Convention & Trade Show. The Committee also has oversight responsibilities for the AEF’s public website. The Committee meets at the call of the Chair and is open to all AEF members in good standing. Member companies may have more than one representative on the Public Education Committee.

Regulated Waste Committee
The AEF’s Regulated Waste Committee works to educate our members on issues such as landfill permitting and operations, hazardous waste incineration and transporting, groundwater remediation, waste reduction and recycling, environmental trust funds, inspections and enforcement initiatives. The Committee also plans and conducts an annual Regulated Waste Regulations Update Seminar and a regulated waste segment at the AEF’s Annual Convention & Trade Show designed to educate industries on their obligations in dealing with waste products. The Committee meets at the call of the Chair and is open to all AEF members in good standing. Member companies may have more than one representative on the Regulated Waste Committee.

Select Committees
The President of the AEF Board may establish select committees of a short-term duration to address specific topics and issues, appointing members from the Board or membership at large. Typically, these include the annual Budget Committee, the Awards and Nominations Committee, and Convention Planning Committee. The AEF’s Executive Committee is established in the organization’s by-laws to act on behalf of the full Board as necessary. The Executive Committee is appointed by the President and must have at least four, but no more than ten members. Executive Committee actions are subject to further review and approval by the Board.

SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) Committee
The purpose of AEF's SHE Committee is to guide the Board on issues related to workplace safety and health issues, monitor federal OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) initiatives, advise the Board and membership on federal and state workplace related regulations and legislation, identify training needs of our membership, plan and conduct targeting training seminars to meet those needs. 

Water Committee
The AEF’s Water Quality Committee focuses on informing our members on issues such as water quality standards, stormwater permitting, monitoring and clean sampling techniques, TMDLs and impaired water bodies, permitting limits, metals and minerals, reporting and enforcement initiatives. The Committee also plans and conducts an annual Water Regulations Update Seminar and a Water segment at the AEF’s Annual Convention & Trade Show designed to educate industries on their obligations in water pollution control. The Committee meets at the call of the Chair and is open to all AEF members in good standing. Member companies may have more than one representative on the Water Committee.
