Educational Opportunities

The AEF is particularly proud of the ongoing work of our Public Education Committee and its many supporters. Their work and contributions enhance and promote the educational opportunities of the AEF and expand each year. We would especially like to thank all the contributors to the Randall Mathis Scholarship for Environmental Studies Fund.

Public Education Programs of the Arkansas Environmental Federation provide environmental education opportunities for a variety of opportunities for college students, junior high and high school teachers and college professors.  The program began in 1974, and over the past 39 years, new programs have been added as more funds have been raised to support additional activities.  AEF members are asked annually to participate by becoming a Public Education Programs Sponsor and a Randall Mathis Scholarship Endowment Fund Sponsor.  Sponsors are recognized throughout the year for making these programs possible.

Note: Undergraduate applicants must have completed 40 credit hours at time of application.

Arkansas Regional Science Fair Program

The Arkansas Regional Science Fair Program includes fairs across the state, where junior high and high school students compete for awards with science experiments and projects.  The AEF's Regional Science Fair Program provides several hundred dollars in awards at each fair for first- and second-place winners, for science supplies for the classroom, and for expenses to ensure these students will have the opportunity to compete in the International Science Fair.

Continuing Education for Working Professionals

Throughout the year, the AEF offers a variety of seminars and programs specifically for "working professionals" in the environmental industry. Many of these programs qualify for continuing education credit. In addition, the Annual Trade Show and Convention features program sessions sponsored by our committees that also count for continuing education credit.

Programs and seminars will be listed on our Upcoming Events page for you to plan ahead, and we will have feature articles on our Home Page as each event approaches, including links to our Registrations page where you can download the registration form or register online using our secure registration forms.
