David Bergenfeld, Governor

David Bergenfeld is a Complex Claims Director at AIG specializing in Cyber, Crime and Fidelity Bond Insurance Policies for domestic and international institutions.  He manages a portfolio of complex claims and is involved in coverage analysis, settlement structures and litigation strategy.  Additionally, David is involved in policy drafting for Cyber, Crime and Fidelity Bond Insurance Policies focused on financial institutions.

Previously, David was in private practice for 15 years focusing on financial company insurance matters dealing with domestic and international complex claims disputes related to Cyber, Crime and Fidelity Bond Insurance Policies. Mr. Bergenfeld has counseled insurers in connection with the structuring of various loss mitigation underwritings, litigation buyouts and complex insurance policies for mortgage and private equity losses. He has also advised financial institutions with regard to their FINRA, SEC and state registrations. He is a frequent author on coverage topics for various insurance industry and legal publications. Before private practice, he worked in-house with the NASD (now FINRA) negotiating broker-dealer agreements and evaluating regulatory matters and membership eligibility.

Mr. Bergenfeld began his legal career as a securities litigator at a boutique law firm. He has a Juris Doctor from George Washington University and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University.  Mr. Bergenfeld's community service includes soup kitchen volunteering and children's rights advocacy.
