Vera McVey, Co-Second Vice President

Vera McVey is Chief Credit & Chief Risk Officer of Modern Bank N.A. and Senior Executive Vice President of the Executive Committee since 2010. Ms. McVey is a member of the management team that repositioned Modern Bank into a wholesale commercial bank with focus on Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial lending (including leveraged and asset based lending). Ms. McVey is responsible for all aspects of  risk management, workout, policies and procedures, loan review, regulatory compliance, and Enterprise Risk Management.

In 2008/09, Ms. McVey provided services to The Promontory Financial Group as an independent consultant focusing on risk governance, loan review, and credit risk.

Previously, Ms. McVey was Chief Credit Officer Americas & Asia for HVB  HypoVereinsbank (Unicredit Group) from 1998 to 2006 and acted as chairperson of the regional credit committees, a member of the regional management committee, as well as a voting member of HVB’s group risk committees.  Ms. McVey was responsible for credit risk management and workout of the HVB’s portfolios in North & South America, Asia, and Japan. 

Ms. McVey spent the prior 10 years at Deutsche Bank AG in New York as a senior risk manager covering a wide range of industries and products, as well as a relationship manager for Fortune 1000 companies, and as an analyst/transactor for leveraged transactions in the Healthcare team.

Ms. McVey holds a BA from Fordham University (summa cum laude) and attended the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD Fontainebleau/France. Ms. McVey was trained and certified as a universal banker in Germany at the inception of her banking career.
