Message From the President

Barry L. Brown, 2013-2014 President

Dear Fellow Texans and Friends:

I am honored to have been chosen to lead the Texas State Society for the 2013 - 2014 term. As a 5th generation Texan and a 3rd generation member of the Texas State Society, I am especially proud to lead this great organization that has provided transplanted Texans a home away from home since 1904.

As we head towards our 110th year in 2014, the Society is growing and prospering and we are adding new events all the time. Not surprisingly we are the largest state society in Washington, DC. And the New York Times recently listed our signature Inaugural event, the Texas State Society's Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball, on their "A-List Guide to the Inauguration Parties.

The Board joins me in inviting newcomers (and old-timers) to join the Texas State Society to take part in the exciting events planned for the year ahead, which also include our Texas Breakfast Club meetings, Texas State Society Picnic, the annual Salute to Congress reception, and the LBJ Birthday Celebration.

Texans and friends are welcome to join in on the fellowship and fun by contacting the Texas State Society office at 202.445.TXS2 (8972)or by visiting, where you will find information regarding membership and details on upcoming events. We look forward to seeing y'all there.

May God Bless Texas,

Barry L. Brown
TSS President, 2013-2014
