Respectful Communication

Summary: If asked, “Do you respect the people who are using your services?” You would likely respond with a resounding, “Yes.”  However, you might find it more difficult to describe the way you demonstrate that respect.  Like “recovery,” “Respect” is difficult to put into concrete terms.  This webinar will communicate powerful messages that both help and hinder the process of recovery in the way we say things, the things we do and the environment that we create.  From the voices of people with lived experience, participants will obtain insight and steps on how to create a culture of accountability to support “Respectful Communication.” 


Learning Objectives:

1.    Identify how we demonstrate respect through the things we say and do in our service environment.

2.    Recognize how respectful communication can help and foster hope while disrespectful communication can hurt and hinder personal growth

3.    Explain how even our silence can communicate disrespect

4.    Apply what you have learned to how your organization has worked to create a culture of accountability with regards to language


About Independent Trainings:

Independent trainings are self-paced and asynchronous (not live). Our live webinars are designed and priced for group learning. We recognize that individuals have expressed interest in the live webinars but were unable to bring together a group of individuals to participate. Our new independent training courses allow you to individually view a limited number of past webinars. Participants have access to the following past webinars and can earn Continuing Education by viewing these past webinars and taking assessment quizzes. Upon attaining a 75% score or higher, you will immediately receive your continuing education certificate (will be offering a 2nd try if needed). We understand how important it is to obtain training within your budget, so we're offering these independent trainings to our members for only $15/training (for nonmembers, $22/training)!! No refunds. (Please note: anyone registering for an online course will receive immediate email confirmation with directions to access the course. If you do not receive this email, please check your SPAM filters.) 


Cancellation/refund policy:

Refunds requests received 30 days or more prior to the course start date will be honored. Refund requests made less than 30 days prior to the course start date will incur a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be made on or after the course start date.  If at any time during the course, you find that you are unable to complete the course, you may request to take the course within the next calendar year.  If you wish to retake the course, contact and your name will be placed on a waitlist.  Availability to participate in the next scheduled course will be confirmed within one week prior to the start of the next scheduled course.  If confirmed, you will incur a $75 retake fee.
