Event Description

About

Join other HOA owners and ECHO members at the Hilton Concord for our 3rd annual East Bay Seminar. While similar in length to our convenient half-day seminars, the East Bay Seminar offers more in-depth instruction, more professional exhibitors, and a members-only board training course.

Regular registration is free for members, but late registration pricing begins on April 19th.

Agenda

The East Bay Seminar offers two concurrent tracks. Pick and choose, or stay for all three HOA University sessions to earn a certificate.

Hot Topics

HOA Banking
Geri Kennedy
As the world of banking evolves, HOAs struggle to find secure banking procedures that keep up with the times. This session explores the nuts and bolts of modern association banking including lockbox services, online banking, loan applications, and more.

Nuisances and Beyond
Sandy Bonato, Esq.
Anybody can call an annoyance a "nuisance," but is the problem just between neighbors or should the board intervene? This session will explore a range of problems from typical noise complaints to discrimination, focusing on when and to what degree boards of directors should become involved.

Short Term Rentals
Melissa Ward, Esq.
With sites like AirBnb, VRBO, and Tripping offering an easy path to quick cash for owners with extra space, short term rentals are exploding. How should your association respond? What can you do?

HOA University - ECHO Members Only

Financial
David Levy, CPA
This session will tackle the essentials: how to read your financials, the budgeting process, annual reviews, and more.

Insurance
Wendy Weber
Insurance is a critical safety net for HOAs and their boards. Learn about essential policies and potential problems to keep both you and your association safe.
