PRE-CONFERENCE BOOT CAMP
The Fundamentals of Complying with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (Half-Day: 12:30pm to 5pm)
The Department of Education (ED) has developed a robust strategy for monitoring compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 (DFSCA) since delegating this responsibility to the Office of Federal Student Aid in 2010. Since that time, the Department has been tenaciously enforcing the law and issuing fines for noncompliance during general and campus security-focused reviews. This workshop will provide a comprehensive review of each requirement of the DFSCA, including: an overview of the content that must be included in the institution’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program (DAAPP); requirements and strategies for distributing the required DAAPP annually to all students and all employees; requirements for conducting biennial reviews of the DAAPP’s effectiveness and preparing biennial review reports; and maintaining records substantiating DFSCA compliance. Pertinent noncompliance findings originating from ED audits will be shared with attendees to highlight compliance shortfalls to be avoided. Participants in this workshop will be equipped with the knowledge necessary to conduct a self-study of institutional compliance efforts following the workshop. Although this workshop is geared towards individuals who have been delegated responsibility for ensuring compliance with the DFSCA/Part 86 Regulations, any employee of an institution of higher education is welcome to attend this workshop, as many campuses have not identified a DFSCA/Part 86 compliance coordinator to oversee these functions, which means it is very likely institutions are not fully complying with the requirements of the law.

NACCOP 2018 Conference Registration Refunds Policy
Any registration cancelation postmarked or emailed 30 days prior to the first day of the conference/event will be refunded, minus a $75 processing fee.
Any registration cancellations postmarked (or emailed) less than 30 days prior to the first day of the event can be applied to the registration fees of a participant from the same institution at no additional cost. All substitutions must be made in writing and, for conference substitutions, accompanied by a completed Conference Registration. Alternately, an attendee can be given a credit to be applied to attend the 2017 annual conference.
No refunds will be given for issues or circumstances beyond our control such as manmade or natural disasters, weather, campus conditions, hosting facilities, parking, prepaid items, etc.
Late requests for refunds due to a family emergency will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The final decision on refunds rests with the Director of NACCOP.
