Attendees with all levels of experience are welcome—from new beginners to those with significant experience to share in discussions.

Overview

This course will cover issues in patient engagement across the lifespan, with particular focus on working with older people, younger people, and people from other populations who are under-represented as patient partners (e.g., marginalized populations, people who do not speak the local language, etc.) The course will be taught collaboratively by a group of patients and researchers with experience in these issues.

The short course will focus on the following topics:

- Introduction to patient engagement in general
- Partnering with older adults and African Americans
- Partnering with people from ethnocultural minorities
- Partnering with Indigenous communities
- Partnering with children and parents
