Description

Music therapists are called to collaborate with other artists/musicians. How do we educate, advocate, and integrate music therapy and the arts in healthcare? How can we navigate challenging conversations and opposition to increase access and awareness? Get a behind-the-scenes overview of the role of the music therapist in establishing partnerships while building interdisciplinary relationships with facility and state using current replicable models and hands-on role play.

3 CMTE-credit course

This course is eligible for one (1) LCAT CE Contact Hours for continuing education for Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (LCATs) in New York State. AMTA is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed creative arts therapists. #CAT-0055.e

Learning Objectives

Participants will apply provided examples to design interdisciplinary treatment programs encompassing supportive facility and state policy needs. (CBMT Domain II. D 3, 4, 9) 

Participants will discuss the role of population specific research in music therapy and related disciplines and program and policy development. (CBMT Domain V. A.2, 4)

Participants will analyze current federal and state policy and role play effective strategies to impact practice. (CBMT Domain V. B. 3, 4)
