On this walking tour you will explore 150 years of Hartford's urban planning and redevelopment. Along the tour route, urban geographer and planner Dr. Donald Poland will introduce and explore Hartford's rich and complex history of urban renewal and planning. Sites and discussions will include the Front Street redevelopment, UConn's Downtown Campus, Burr Mall, Bushnell Tower/Gold Street, and Constitution Plaza. Dr. Poland will discuss the history, aim, and outcomes of these redevelopment sites and engage the participants in a discussion around the benefits and challenges of urban redevelopment.
