CMTE F Developing and Expanding Supervision Skills

Description

This intensive training will focus both on the theory and practical skills of clinical supervision. Learners will be immersed in both didactic learning and experientials where they can practice verbal, musical, and expressive arts techniques for supervision. Special attention will be paid to culturally competent supervision and crisis management.

 

Learner Objectives:

1.Participants will define supervision and how supervision differs from and is similar to management, therapy, and coaching. (CBMT. IV. A. 4., 5. 7; IV. B. 7, 8, 11, 14)

2. Participants will identify at least one theory of supervision. (CBMT. IV. A. 4., 5.; IV. B. 7, 8, 11, 14)

3Participants will demonstrate two verbal supervision techniques. (CBMT. IV. A. 4., 5. ; IV. B. 7, 8, 11, 14)

4. Participants will demonstrate two supervision techniques that use music, art, dance, drama, or written word.   (CBMT. IV. A. 4., 5. 6. 7; IV. B. 7, 8, 11, 14)

a) What is supervision? – 15 minutes

i) Define differences between supervision, management, and therapy

ii) Why do we need supervision?

b) Theoretical models of supervision – 45 minutes

c) Break – 15 minutes

d) Cultural competence in supervision – 30 minutes

2) Prcactical supervision tools

a) Verbal supervision – 30 minutes

i) Didactic information

ii) Experientials in small groups

b) Music supervision – 45 minutes

i) Didactic information

ii) Experientials in small groups

c) Break – 15 minutes

d) Expressive arts in supervision – 45 minutes

i) Didactic information

e) Crisis management in supervision – 30 minutes

i) Triaging

ii) Crisis supervision techniques

iii) Supervision vs. Therapy

3) Conclusion

a) Group art and music experiential - 15 minutes
