Description
Review neuroscience and how it applies to music therapy. Learn or refresh your knowledge on neuroanatomy and function of major areas of the brain. Discuss basic principles of neuroplasticity and how they apply to music therapy.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will identify general neuroanatomy and function of the major areas of the brain.
- Participants will describe four principles of neuroplasticity and how they apply to music therapy.
- Participants will identify ways to incorporate principles of neuroscience and neuroplasticity to their own area of interest in music therapy. (III.A.3.f; III.A.4.f; V.A.2)
Schedule:
- Introductions: 5 minutes
- Overview of Neuroanatomy and Function – Sensory: 50 minutes
- Break: 10 minutes
- Overview of Neuroanatomy and Function – Motor: 50 minutes
- Break: 10 minutes
- Neuroplasticity in Music Therapy: 45 minutes
- Evaluation: 10 minutes
