Description
Gain powerful inner tools to chip away at sociocultural privilege and bias through mindfulness, loving kindness meditation, and Supportive Music & Imagery. Please note: this session will only be offered live and will not be recorded for later viewing.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will identify two strategies for being more present with clients, particularly around issues of privilege and bias (III.A.1.a)
- Participants will identify one new insight about their own relationship with themselves around privilege and biases they may hold (II.C.4)
- Participants will identify one new way to address self blame and guilt when working with clients and supervisees in a sociocultural context (III.A.1.f)
Schedule:
- (30 min) Introduction of presenters, overview, introduction of privilege and bias,
- (10 min) Setting the space, group agreements
- (15 min) Mindfulness breathing exercise
- (5 min) Reflective writing on privilege and bias
- (30 min) Supportive Music and Imagery experience
- (15 min) Break
- (20 min) Breakout into small group sharing and discussion
- (15 min) Rhythm circle and themes
- (10 min) Large group sharing and discussion
- (20 min) Self compassion and gratitude practice
- (10 min) Closing and wrap-up
