Joel N. Crouch, Esq., is a partner with Meadows, Collier, Reed, Cousins, Crouch & Ungerman, L.L.P., specializing in civil and criminal tax controversies.  He represents a broad range of clients, including individual taxpayers, closely-held business enterprises, estates, corporations and tax advisors in all stages of federal civil and criminal tax proceedings.  In over 20 years of practice, he has helped his clients resolve hundreds of civil and criminal tax matters, many of which involved sophisticated and complex legal and tax issues, both domestic and international.

 

William H. Fraizer, ASA, is a Managing Director in the Valuation & Financial Opinions Group of Stout Risius Ross, Inc. He has over 35 years of experience in business valuation and corporate finance.  He has participated as an appraiser and/or expert witness in numerous U.S. Tax Court cases, including Hendrix, Jelke, McCord, Dunn and Gladys Cook. Mr. Frazier has written numerous articles on the subject of business valuation for tax purposes, appearing in such publications as the Business Valuation Review, Valuation Strategies, BV E-Letter, and Estate Planning.

 

John McSwain, CPA, is a CPA specializing in corporate compliance and ethics consulting and FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practice Act) investigations.  Prior to joining the Deloitte FAS team, John spent more than 21 years as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).  During his career with the FBI, he conducted numerous complex white collar investigations specializing in the areas of Public Corruption, Healthcare Fraud, and Financial Institution Fraud.  His experience includes asset tracing, transactional and email reviews, as well as litigation support.  He has conducted hundreds of interviews as part of criminal investigations.  John has provided expert and summary witness testimony at numerous federal criminal trials and before Federal Grand Juries.  He has provided litigation support to Assistant United States Attorneys in several judicial districts throughout the United States.  John has extensive experience in helping prosecutors develop trial strategy, debrief and prepare government witnesses, and design and produce charts and graphs offered and admitted as government exhibits.

 

Darren Moore’s practice focuses on representation of nonprofit organizations. Mr. Moore advises clients on a wide range of tax and legal compliance issues including organization of various types of nonprofit entities, obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status, risk management, employment issues, governance, and other business issues, as well as handling litigation matters on behalf of his exempt organization clients.

Mr. Moore is an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School where he has taught Nonprofit Organizations since 2001. He has also served as a guest lecturer at Southern Methodist University School of Law. Additionally, he writes and speaks regularly on tax and legal compliance issues including co-authoring the third edition of Bourland, Wall & & Wenzel, P.C.’s publication, Keeping Your Church Out of Court.

Robert Scharar, BSBA, MBA, JD, is President of FCA Corp, a Houston based investment advisor and financial planning firm. He is a past President of the AAA-CPA. He has a BSBA (Accounting) from the University of Florida,  an MBA and JD from Northeastern University, and an  LLM in Tax from Boston University.

 

Frank Snyder, JD, LLM, is nationally known for his work in contract law. He is the creator and editor-in-chief of the official web log of the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Contracts. The blog, ContractsProf, has regularly been ranked as one of the top law professor web sites in the U.S. He is also the webmaster and editor of the Contract Section’s web site, which provides teaching resources for contract law professors in the U.S. and around the world. In 2003 he founded the International Conference on Contracts, the largest annual international scholarly conference devoted to contract law and practice, and he still serves as the lead organizer. The proceedings of the first conference, held at Gloucester, England, in 2003, were published in the Texas Wesleyan Law Review and won the Texas Bar Association’s award as Outstanding Law Review Article in 2004. He is a past winner of the Texas Wesleyan Alumni Association’s Shirley Zabel Award as Outstanding Professor of the Year.
