Brown Frank Cornelius - Concerned Black Clergy of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc

Frank Cornelius Brown, was born the youngest of five children to the late sister Hattie Mae Brown, and the late Deacon Larkin E. Brown, Sr., in the city of Roanoke, Virginia. Reverend Brown matriculated through the public school system in Roanoke, and at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, where he majored in Business Administration with a minor in Information Systems. Reverend Brown worked extensively in the Technology Industry for eighteen years. He was most recently employed in the position of National Account Manager with SED International, a distributor of computer and peripheral products based in Tucker, Georgia. For twenty one years Reverend Brown was a member of the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. While at Ebenezer his spiritual giftedness flourished and he was ordained as a member of the Board of Deacons. In June of 1999, after years of prayer and consideration, Reverend Brown answered the call to Christian ministry. He was licensed to preach the gospel in November 2002 by his pastor and mentor the Reverend Dr. Joseph L. Roberts, Jr., and the Ebenezer Church family. His trial sermon was titled, “A Matter of Trust,” based on a reading of Proverbs 3:5-6. In May of 2006, Reverend Brown had conferred upon him the Master of Divinity degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center and the Morehouse School of Religion. While enrolled at The ITC, he distinguished himself with honors by receiving the President / Deans Award for high academic achievement; the Charles J. Sargent Award, given to students that demonstrate integrity in deportment and aptitude for administration; and the Thomas E. Huntley Award, provided to persons of high academic achievement and distinction who have demonstrated leadership and interest in the parish ministry, and who blend their religious leadership with a strong interest, commitment, and participation in civic and political-government affairs. In December 2006, Reverend Brown was called to the pastorate at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in the Ben Hill Community of SW Atlanta. He was then ordained by The Reverend Dr. Raphael G. Warnock at Ebenezer and took over the pulpit of the Mt. Olive congregation in February 2007. Since taking over this historic pastorate, Reverend Brown has led the congregation in exponential membership growth. They have experienced great spiritual renewal that is supported by twenty eight ministries. He has led the church in the purchase of property in the community, established a community garden that provides vegetables to church members and residents of the surrounding neighborhoods free of charge, and can constantly be found engaging with young people. Mt. Olive is known as “The Place Where Yokes Are Broken, Hearts Are Mended, and Hope Is Restored.” As a member of the Concerned Black Clergy of Metropolitan Atlanta he has served as a member of the Board of Directors and as VP of Clergy Programs. Presently, Reverend Brown serves as the eighth President of the CBC. In his role as President, Reverend Brown has led the CBC in an important initiative to bring financial empowerment to residents of Atlanta. Through collaboration with Wells Fargo Bank, CBC has now helped over twelve hundred persons engage in critical areas important in bringing financial stability to the African American community. Under his leadership, CBC has also adopted the Cascade Elementary School. Their efforts include providing book bags and school supplies at the beginning of the school year, Christmas gifts for the holidays in an effort called “Give a Toy to Bring Joy,” stock their school store throughout the school year, and provide tutors during the standardized testing season. Through an arrangement with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, CBC is helping smaller churches provide much needed food supplies in areas known for having food insecurities. Their work in Juvenile Justice has expanded from a Summer Enrichment Program to a year round mentoring initiative to at risk youth. They are also working in the critical area of reentry by advocating for returning citizens obtaining opportunities for employment and fair housing. Other affiliations include the Regional Council of Churches in Atlanta; the Atlanta Regional Collaborative for Health Improvement; Senior Advisor to the Interfaith Coalition of Fulton County Health Promotion Advisory Coalition; The United Way Income Board, member of the Financial Capability Network; was named as one of the Atlanta Business Leagues 2012 Men of Influence, 2011 recipient of the New Era Missionary Baptist Convention Social Action Award, 2014 recipient of the Trumpet Foundations Spiritual Enlightenment Award, The Lamplighter Award and the Atlanta Gospel Choice Awards 100 Most Influential Pastors, along with membership in other community service organizations. Since 1984, he has been married to the former Linda Denise Scott. To this union, three children have been born, Whitney, Charmaine, and Joshua.
