Speaker Information

Dawn E. Hinton, LPCC, clinician, school counselor, adjunct professor, has treated dissociative clients for over 8 years. She teaches a dissociative workshop at Xavier University.  This course is a one credit hour elective in the CACREP accredited Master’s program. 

Her busy professional life includes owner of private practice in Florence Kentucky, full-time high school counselor at Cooper High School, and adjunct professor at Xavier University. She is the former president and contributing member of the Northern Kentucky Counseling Association. 
She is a teacher, Professional Clinical Counselor, National Certified Counselor, National Board Certified School Counselor and member of the American Counseling Association, Kentucky Association.  She has conducted professional development sessions for teachers, school counselors, student counselors and clinical counselors.  She has presented sessions at the Kentucky Counseling Association Conference and at the William Glasser Institute International Conference.   

She earned the Career Quest Award presented to outstanding school counselors in the greater Cincinnati region.  She also received the Kentucky School Counselor – Kentucky Outstanding High School Counselor.  She has been instrumental in starting a dual enrollment program in two high schools and currently manages the largest dual enrollment program for high school students in Northern Kentucky. 

Her professional goals are multifaceted.  In public education, it is to empower high school students to reach their greatest potential.  In professional counseling it is to educate counseling professionals understand dissociation. This high need population needs well trained therapists to recognize, understand, and help resolve the maladaptive coping dissociation creates. 

 

Holly Maddy, MSW, LCSW, LISW-S is an independent social worker licensed in both Ohio and Kentucky with 17 years of clinical experience. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work. She began her career as an investigative and ongoing social worker for Hamilton County Department of Children's Services serving children who were at risk of abuse, neglect or dependency. Holly Maddy managed a non-profit counseling office in Boone County for five years. There she provided therapeutic services, supervised clinicians, balanced budgets and worked closely with other community resources.  In 2004 she began working for both an adult and child psychiatrist providing therapeutic interventions to children, families and couples.  

Holly Maddy opened her own private practice in 2008 in the Northern Kentucky Area. She has furthered her education in complex PTSD and Dissociation by completing EMDR 1 and 2 training, and Introductory, Advanced, and Masters courses through the ISSTD.  She has facilitated a workshop, Treating Anxiety Disorders, within the Boone County School system for teachers and school counselors. Holly Maddy taught a graduate level course, Diagnosing and Treating Anxiety Disorders at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio for the past three years. She has been a guest speaker for the graduate level dissociative course at Xavier University in the last year.  

Her professional goals are to provide education to clinicians in the area of PTSD and Dissociative Disorders, to increase services in this area, and to provide clinical interventions to those who have experienced trauma.
