Delores Dungee-Anderson, PhD, LCSW CTST, Professor, was recently appointed as Interim Dean in the Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work at Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA. She has previously served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and tenured-Associate Professor at the Wayne State University School of Social Work, Detroit Michigan. Prior to her five year appointment at Wayne State University, she was appointed and served as Assistant Professor, tenured-Associate Professor and MSW Program Director at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. She has held numerous national offices at the Council on Social Work Education, including serving on the Commission of Accreditation for a 3 year appointment and being re-appointed for a second 3 year term. She also served as Vice-President for the American-Board of Examiners in Clinical Social work, the clinical practice social work organization that awards the Clinical Board Certified Diplomate (BCD) credential. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Virginia) and maintains an independent clinical practice in North Chesterfield, Virginia. She is both trained and credentialed in Forensic Social Work, Clinical Hypnosis, EMDR, and Complex Trauma Disorders (PTSD, Military PTSD and Dissociative Disorders). Additionally, she has extensive experience and expertise in Personality disorders and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. She is a credentialed trainer for the State of Virginia and has been active in promoting and providing Social Work Licensure and Clinical Supervision training at national, regional and local levels. She has authored and provided training on standards of clinical supervision for the NASW state chapters for Iowa, New Mexico and Colorado. She also currently serves as training instructor for NASW-VA, presenting Licensure Exam Preparation Training and Clinical Supervision Training. Most recently, she is the author and credentialing trainer for a 42 hour NASW-VA sponsored Trauma Specialist Credentialing course, designed and offered for graduate degreed social work practitioners in the State of Virginia.
Dr. Dungee-Anderson has practiced, trained, published and pursued continual training in the specialized field of Complex and Developmental Trauma Disorders since the mid-1990’s. She is both recognized and well-known at regional and national levels for her clinical work with trauma-based Borderline Personality Disorders and Dissociative Identity Disorders.
J. Patrick Slifka is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has provided mental health and addiction treatment in the state of Virginia for over 28 years. His clinical experience includes the delivery of dual diagnosis services in residential, outpatient and community-based settings. Currently he serves as the Senior Clinical Director for ncgCARE and is the lead trainer for the agency. Mr. Slifka received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College in 1987 and a Master of Social Work Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998. Mr. Slifka has also received a significant amount of post-graduate training on dual diagnosis treatment, sex offender treatment, motivational interviewing, clinical supervision, inhalant abuse, and professional leadership development. He has conducted over 300 statewide trainings to more than 4000 public and private mental health, substance abuse, and criminal justice professionals and is part of NASW-VA’s professional training team. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for Chesterfield County’s Substance Abuse Free Environment (SAFE) and is the past Chairman for the SAFE’s Inhalant and PULP (Proper Use of Legal Products) Task Forces.
