Welcome to the U.S. Cavalry & Armor Association

The U.S. Cavalry & Armor Association grew out of the United States Cavalry Association, established by a small group of cavalry officers in 1885 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

In 1888, the association published its first issue and volume of the Journal of the United States Cavalry Association as a means to develop a professional officer corps. Though the publication has changed names several times over the last 125 years, the aim and purpose of the Cavalry and Armor Association continues through its publication - The Cavalry and Armor Journal.

Since 1888, the Cavalry and Armor Journal has been the primary media of the Association to execute its mission of disseminating the art and science of maneuver warfare and exchange of critical thought among its members. For nearly 125 years, it has provided our company, field grade officers, senior leaders and industry with the latest information about the performance of tanks, equipment and tactics on the battlefield.

The Association is a 501 C 3 non-profit educational organization with over 5,550 members dedicated to disseminating knowledge of the military art and sciences, with special attention to mobility in ground warfare.

The Cavalry and Armor Association’s mission is to disseminate knowledge of the military art and sciences, with special attention to mounted maneuver in ground warfare; to promote the professional development of its members; and to preserve and foster the spirit, the traditions, and solidarity of the Cavalry and Armor in the Army and Marine Corps of the United States.
