As Secretary Duncan has noted, the Department of Education is committed to making sure that all of our young people grow up free of fear, violence, and bullying. Bullying not only threatens a student’s physical and emotional safety at school, but fosters a climate of fear and disrespect, creating conditions that negatively impact learning—undermining students’ ability to achieve to their full potential. Unfortunately, we know that children with disabilities are disproportionately affected by bullying.

The NAPT Election committee has announced elections in 2013 for the following NAPT Board seats: President-Elect, Business Partner Affiliate Member Director, and Director for both Regions 1 and 5.

ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUESTS — Any NAPT member seeking to vote by absentee ballot must send a written request for a ballot to NAPT headquarters. All requests must be received no later than the close of business on Wednesday, September 4, 2013.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS MAILED TO VOTERS — Official absentee ballots will be mailed to all eligible voters no later than Thursday, September 19, 2013.

ABSENTEE BALLOT RETURN — All absentee ballots must be received at NAPT headquarters no later than Wednesday, October 9, 2013.

Election Day is Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Elections will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan on the Trade Show floor from 10:00 – 12:00 Noon.

Three scholarships and one grant opportunity have once again been announced for 2013.

The Linda Bluth/Betsy Eisman Field Trip Scholarship Opportunity will enable NAPT members to help bring learning to life for students in their community and enhance classroom studies in their school program. To read more about this opportunity, click here

The Peter and Linda Lawrence Scholarship for drivers and front-line supervisors will help four (4) school bus driver trainers attend the NAPT Annual Summit this year. To read more about the opportunity, and apply, please click here
