These seminars will provide design professionals with ways to economically design and detail conventionally reinforced concrete members that comply with the provisions of the 2014 edition of ACI 318, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete. Practical and time-proven methods and guidelines have been compiled from various sources to assist designers in the design and detailing processes of a reinforced concrete structure. Numerous details and design aids are provided that will help in achieving overall economy while reducing design/detailing time.

Series sessions:
Module 1: Economics of Floor Systems; 60 minutes, .1 CEU/1 PDH -- On-Demand Video
General guidelines to achieve economical reinforced concrete structures. Provided are recommendations on how to achieve economical formwork, reinforcement, and concrete. Also given are key characteristics and common uses for different one-way and two-way reinforced concrete floor systems. Emphasis is placed on how to select an economical reinforced concrete floor system for various loading and span conditions.

Module 2: Beams and One-Way Slabs; 60 minutes, .1 CEU/1 PDH -- On-Demand Video
Methods to size and detail one-way slabs and beams. Guidelines on how to size beams for economy are given as are design aids that ensure the reinforcement will fit within the section. Practical and economical detailing requirements and guidelines for flexure, shear, and torsion are provided for all Seismic Design Categories. Detailing recommendations for special situations, such as steps in beams, are also given.

Module 3: Two-Way Slabs and Columns; 60 minutes, .1 CEU/1 PDH -- On-Demand Video
Methods to quickly obtain a slab thickness that satisfies both serviceability and two-way shear requirements are provided as are guidelines to economically detail two-way slabs for Seismic Design Categories A through C. Guidelines on how to size columns for economy are presented, and design and detailing requirements are described for all Seismic Design Categories.

Module 4: Walls and Foundations 60 minutes, .1 CEU/1 PDH -- On-Demand Video
Design and detailing requirements for structural walls and foundations are given in Module 4 for all Seismic Design Categories. Included are economical detailing guidelines at wall corners and intersections and for walls with openings and reveals/rustications. Presented are methods on how to economically size and detail footings, mat foundations, drilled piers, and grade beams. Details are included for all Seismic Design Categories.
