Effective with FY 2017 changes, new and revised ICD-10-CM/PCS code changes are being implemented and that means the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) will also change. The emphasis continues to focus on quality across the hospital inpatient setting. This presentation will provide an overview of new, revised, and deleted Medicare severity diagnosis related group (MS-DRG)s that every coding professional (educator, auditor and coding staff) and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) specialist needs to be aware of. In addition, Present on Admission (POA), the Post Acute Care (PAC) transfer rule, and Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC) will be presented.
