This webinar will review two ICD-10 Chapters:
- Chapter 5 Mental, Behavioral, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (F01-F99)
- Chapter 6 Diseases of the Nervous System (G00-G99)
The webinar will provide:
- A review of the differences between ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis coding for these chapters.
- Key documentation issues and terminology for accurate code assignment.
- Enhanced coding query readiness.
- Practice coding case scenarios (Have your ICD-10 code books ready)
Included will be a review of relevant chapter guidelines, documentation issues, query opportunities, as well as a virtual quiz through case scenarios and a Q&A. Within Chapter 5 of ICD-10-CM are the mental and behavioral health disorders such as schizophrenia and alcohol dependence, and also the codes for chemical dependency. Within Chapter 6 are the Nervous System guidelines and codes related to pain, codes for various forms of headaches and neuropathy. Learning the titles and terminology of the specific codes will help with the physician query process.
The ICD-10-CM code set has fundamental changes in structure and concepts that make it very different from ICD-9-CM. Within each chapter of ICD-10-CM are some key attributes that help the coding professional enhance their coding skills. Understanding the conventions and guidelines, the foundation for accurate code assignment, is essential to successful coding. Within ICD-10 there are enhancements to the clinical code descriptions that the coding professional must clearly understand and utilize. Each chapter within ICD-10-CM has its own unique guidelines and instructions that provide opportunities to gain further knowledge and understanding. A review of each of the 21chapters within ICD-10 will help provide greater familiarity in preparation for the October 1, 2015 implementation date.
