Cassi Birnbaum, MS, RHIA, CPHQ, FAHIMA
System-wide Director of HIM/Revenue Integrity, UC San Diego Health
Ms. Birnbaum provides enterprise-wide leadership and strategic direction for all activities related to HIM, coding, charge capture, clinical documentation, and revenue integrity for UC San Diego Health. She is also an adjunct faculty member for San Diego Mesa College’s HIM academic program. Cassi is an officer of San Diego Health Connect Region Health Information Exchange Board, a position she has held since 2010.
As a past AHIMA Board Chair/President (2014–2016), Cassi was able to successfully lead the industry, profession, and its members to realize their vision with a successful transition to ICD-10, information governance, and adoption of a global curriculum. Cassi is also a CHIA Past President (2007–2008) and received the prestigious CHIA Distinguished Member Award in 2009.
