The use of restraint and seclusion creates serious risks for children, including traumatization, emotional harm, serious injury, and even death. CWLA's Best Practice Guidelines for Behavior Support and Intervention Training will help facilities select qualified training vendors that will aid in efforts to reduce the use of restraint and seclusion. Doing so prevents further harm from being inflicted on children who have been maltreated, creates an environment that is free from violence, and allows children and caregivers to form trusting relationships.
