Preventing Plastic-Product Failures
Anand Shah, Engineering Systems Inc.
Generally, investigations have identified four common causes of failure of plastic products: material selection, product design, processing, and environment. Numerous case studies discuss the investigation techniques that are employed to determine failure modes and root causes of product failures. Such reports allow the industry to learn from previous mistakes. However, despite all the lessons learned, failures are still common, and certain reasons for failure repeat themselves with undesirable frequency.
This webinar will present case studies of failures that explain the factors responsible for failure modes and fracture mechanisms, and also the corrective actions that could have prevented the failures. Providing insights into previous mistakes will help prevent product failures. The presentation will focus on the precautions that designers, processors, and engineers selecting materials can take to ensure the prevention of failure.
