Desctiption:
This webinar summarizes the available options for process modeling of compounding operations using intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw extruders and shows the advantages and disadvantages of each available methodology. Practical use of one-dimensional (1D) simulation is highlighted, with examples demonstrating how machine geometry (e.g. screw configuration), raw material characterization, and process variables are used to predict compounding performance and provide insight into what is actually happening within the extruder barrel. Case studies demonstrate how simulation results are used to scale-up typical compounding applications from laboratory-scale extruders (e.g. 25-mm) to full-scale production machinery.
