EDUCATION & TRAINING VIDEO DOWNLOAD
This video (.wmv format), recorded on 2/26/15, covers "Understanding Materials Used in and with Concrete Overlays – Part 4".
In this, the fourth installment of this multi-part series, our guest presenter, Dale Harrington, will discuss key considerations for selecting and using concrete mixtures for concrete overlay applications.
The course will begin with an overview of the basic materials for concrete; key considerations of constituent materials (cementitious materials, aggregates, and admixtures); and the importance of low water-cement ratio, air void system, and proper grading. The course also will discuss accelerated concrete mixtures, as well as other materials, including structural fibers and separation layers (asphalt and non-woven geotextiles). In addition to the materials used in concrete mixtures, the program also will cover other materials used with concrete overlays, including curing compounds, joint sealants, and dowel bars/tie bars used for load transfer and distribution.
Presented by the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center, with support from the American Concrete Pavement Association, this program is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration.
Contractors, consultants, and agencies alike will all benefit from this program, which is highly recommended for construction managers, project managers, superintendents, foremen, QC/QA personnel, pavement designers, inspectors, procurement personnel, and others who have either direct or indirect responsibility for rehabilitating and preserving pavements.
