NCBDC is embarking on a program that holds the potential to provide
Certified designers with a new benefit of immeasurable value. The objective of
this program is to achieve accreditation of our examination and certification
process by ANSI, the American National Standards Institute. With such
accreditation, our ultimate goal is recognition of our certification by the
ICC, the International Code Council.
If this can be accomplished, we no longer be subject to increasingly onerous
limitations—our practice, within the bounds of the IRC, would be a matter of
right—rather than an exemption from architectural licensing regulations.
However, the accreditation process will be expensive,
requiring the help of consultants and third party agencies. Therefore we are reaching out to you and all our colleagues
to raise the funds we need to stabilize our
administrative costs, and to launch the accreditation process.
