Merchandise Description

ASALH is proud to offer for sale a DVD of Professors John Hope Franklin and Adelaide M. Cromwell reflecting on the life and times of Carter G. Woodson. Filmed at ASALH's 91st annual conference, the nearly 2 hour recording provides not only insight on the life of Woodson, but also on their own lives in the 1930's and 1940's.

"Today there are a remaining few people who inhabited the world of Carter G. Woodson, the Father of Black History.  We are exceedingly fortunate that among those are two senior scholars who grew up in the midst of Woodson as he laid the foundation for the field of Black History.  On September 29, 2006, Adelaide M. Cromwell and John Hope Franklin held ASALH's 91st Annual Convention spellbound as the two learned, gracious, and witty scholars spoke not only of Woodson, but also gave the audience valuable insights into their own lives during the years prior to the Civil Rights Era.  ASALH is proud to offer the public a timeless record of that event so that coming generations can share this high point of the African American intellectual tradition."

- Dr. Daryl Michael Scott, President of ASALH
