Why The Academy recommends this book:
"Whether eating disorders is your desired specialty treatment area or not, you are bound to encounter a related situation some time in your career. They are simply too common to avoid."
- From The Pocket Guide to Eating Disorders, 2nd Ed.
Eating disorders are difficult to treat successfully, requiring long-term commitment by the patient to demonstrate progress and reach remission, followed by lifelong effort to prevent relapse. This revised edition is a handy guide for both new and seasoned professionals to provide nutrition assessment and intervention for an individual experiencing dysfunctional eating behaviors.
Organized according to the Nutrition Care Process, this comprehensive guide includes the roles of treatment team members, sample PES statements (or Nutrition Diagnosis Statements), DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, guidelines for providing nutrition education, tips for communicating during difficult situations, and much more.
