About the Authors:

Josef Neu, MD is a professor of pediatrics and directs the Neonatology Fellowship Training Program at the University of Florida College of Medicine (Gainesville, FL). His research interests include developmental gastroenterology, nutrition of the neonate, and barrier function of the GI tract.


Brenda Poindexter, MD, MS, is the director of clinical and translational research in the Perinatal Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center where she is an experienced clinician, researcher and teacher. She has contributed to the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD Neonatal Research Network for more than a decade and her research focuses on the role of early nutrition on growth and development in premature infants. Dr. Poindexter is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on the Fetus and Newborn and on The American Board of Pediatrics Subboard of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
