Webinar on Demand: Developing a Successful and Compliant Outpatient CDI Program
CHIA Product Code: WEB213
Webinar Date: January 14, 2021
Interest in outpatient (OP) clinical documentation integrity (CDI) programs is multiplying as more and more hospital services are moving to the outpatient setting (ED, Observation, OP Surgery, etc.) and healthcare reimbursement models are transitioning to value-based methodologies. In addition, the term ‘outpatient’ CDI often includes the Physician Office setting.
Outpatient CDI can be hospital-outpatient focused or physician-outpatient focused. Developing a complete program (and plan) for outpatient CDI can result in success and challenges, thus knowing the best way to initiate an effective OP CDI program is critical. Compliance programs continue to scrutinize healthcare operations in all settings. Querying the provider regarding their documentation needs to follow industry gold standards. When developing a CDI program steps to take include conducting an assessment; defining a mission statement; determining the direction and goals of the program; developing written policies and procedures and focusing on compliance and integrity. These are essential elements of a successful program.
During webinar the attendee's will learn how to:
- Describe the key components and aspects of an effective OP CDI program
- Explain the critical steps of an assessment for OP CDI readiness
- Learn what specific OP CDI policies and procedures should be in place
- Gain an understanding on how to apply and utilize the AHIMA OP CDI Practice Brief
