The landscape of health care is changing and has created a shortage of exemplary leaders - people we trust and look to show us the way forward. The resources and ability is out there, it is the result of the dramatic shifts in the way care is delivered, both technology and organizational consolidations have created a gap that HIM professionals are poised to fill. In order to effectively step into this space, HIM professionals need the tools to develop their professional practice, and leadership is the most essential piece. When we are intentional about our practice and create intensity around this, we are in the flow of leadership. Learning how to integrate key leadership as practice tools into your professional practice will help equip you to take on larger scopes and projects.
This program will draw on the concepts in part one of the book, “Learning Leadership: The Five Fundamentals of Becoming an Exemplary Leader” by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner (2016). Participants will:
• Learn how to easily incorporate leadership concepts using “self-coaching” actions
• Understand the value of cultivating a leadership culture in their organization
• Identify the tools to ‘focus inward first’ for lasting change
• Learn about the “Five Leadership Myths” and how to address them in their own practice.
