Speaker Info: Tabitha Biehl, Environmental Lands Stewardship Coordinator, Polk County Parks & Natural Resources Division
After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology, Tabitha Biehl moved to Florida to pursue a career working in conservation. Ms. Biehl learned everything she could about the flora and fauna endemic to the Lake Wales Ridge. Working at The Nature Conservancy, she wrote and implemented land management plans, listed species monitoring protocols, and took on roles in coordinating volunteer programs like Ridge Rangers and a citizen science program, called Jay Watch. For the past 14 years, Ms. Biehl has been with Polk County Environmental Lands Program. As the Environmental Lands Stewardship Coordinator, she continues to build on her knowledge of central Florida water and natural resources.  Ms. Biehl also took on managing Polk’s Nature Discovery Center, a visitation of over 20,000 people monthly,  while managing the natural resources of Polk County’s environmental sensitive lands. Ms. Biehl also is the Executive Director for a non-profit LE/AD (Lakes Education / Action Drive) which combines her passion of protecting and bringing awareness to central Florida's natural resources.
