Maybe He's Sick and Not Just Mean: General Medical Issues Involved with Assessment of Persons with Mental Retardation

Various general medical conditions, particularly medication reactions, contribute significantly to the diagnosis and treatment of persons with mental retardation and significant behavioral/psychiatric problems. Careful screening for and management of these conditions contributes significiatly to treamtment programs with successful outcomes. A general outline of health issues and common drug ractions, which often present as behavioral porblems in people with mental retardation is presented.
