Criminal activity and incarceration of persons with mental retardation continues to grow. Jail diversion into a treatment program to enhance skill development is one alternative in reducing the likelihood of repetitive unlawful acts. The concept of Jail Diversion, examples of didactic group activities and the current diversion efforts in St. Clair County Michigan will be discussed.
