AS07-1104C-Cultural & Linguistic Competence: Implications for Services & Supports for Indiv with DD
Author: Tawara D. Goode, MA
Systems that provide services and supports to individuals with dual diagnoses face numerous challenges in implementing systemic change to respond to individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic groups. It is vital that the current and future workforce develop values, knowledge and skill sets for effective work cross-culturally. This session is designed to: (a) provide a rationale for cultural and linguistic competence in service delivery and (b) describe conceptual frameworks and practical approaches for achieving cultural and linguistic competence at the organizational and individual levels.
