Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE) remain conspicuously absent from psychiatry's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). However, the behavioral and learning sequelae of FAS and FAE are often profound and interfere prominently with daily functioning throughout life. Without a heightened awareness of these sequelae, people are often misdiagnosed, leading to inaccurate treatment. This workshop will examine the behavioral presentation of people with FAS and FAE and will highlight appropriate interventions for each age group.
