Discuss the effects, precautions, effectiveness and importance of utilizing veterans as volunteers in a veteran class and/or program based on the principle of shared experience and the unique military/veteran social dynamics. This includes a discussion of how shared experience, along with other unique social dynamics of veteran culture, leads to cohesiveness and how these traits and social dynamics promote progress and success for the veteran participant, volunteer and the class and/or program as a whole.
JESSICA CHRISTEN holds degrees in equine science and sociology from Colorado State University, has been a PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and teaching since 2015 and has been involved in military and veteran culture since 2011. She recently became the local VFW Post Auxiliary Secretary.
TJ CHRISTEN is a marine combat veteran and an officer of the local VFW post, specializing in recruiting and welcoming new members.
This educational video may be used by PATH Intl. Credentialed Professionals as one hour of disability education (DE) toward their annual instructor compliance report.
