2019-2020 Professional Coach/Choreographer CER Program Modules

Enrollment is for primary coaches, choreographers, assistant coaches and element specialists who train or instruct one or more skaters or teams participating in any U.S. Figure Skating or member club activities or at U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned events (other than group lessons as part of a Learn to Skate USA program.)

Once you register for the module, you will receive an email with a link to the course.

Completion deadline: June 30, 2019; active through June 30, 2020

Each pre-packaged, pre-priced module ($70.00) contains four individual CER courses (one in each topic area). Choose and complete only one module. The modules are prepackaged at. Completion of all four topics will fulfill the CER requirement for U.S. Figure Coach Compliance for the 2019-2020 season. A completion certificate will be automatically issued from the e-learning system.

Completing a module after the deadline will result in a late price of $40.00 per topic area. Complete only one module per season, as completing more than one for CER credit per season cannot be refunded.

  • The exam is “open book,” and the exams are NOT timed.
  • Once the exam is started, it must be completed. Answers will not be saved if the exam is exited before it is finished. The exam will need to be attempted again and will count as one of the three allowed attempts.

  • A passing grade of 80% (48 correct out the 60 questions presented) on the module exam is required to earn CER credits for this season.

  • In the event that you do not achieve a passing grade, please review the course content before attempting a retry.

  • There are three (3) attempts allowed for this exam before a re-registration is required.

Module 5 Course Descriptions

CER ACP 200 – Safety Basics for Figure Skating

CER ACP 200 - " Safety Basics for Figure Skating Coaches " incorporates the Safety and Injury Prevention Standards of Care defined by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education The course will cover the basics of coach responsibility for ensuring safe conditions and appropriate actions when emergencies arise; coaching responsibilities in the areas of physiological training, nutrition education, maintaining a drug-free environment, developmental considerations in designing practice and competition to enhance the physical, social, and emotional growth of athletes. In addition, ACP 200 covers basic knowledge essential for coaches in the area of injuries and medical conditions.

 

CER ROS 106 – Compete USA

CER ROS 106 – Compete USA course is designed to outline and explain the framework of rules for Compete USA competitions and features tools and strategies for placing skaters in the correct levels, preparing those skaters for the competitions, correctly planning programs, developing coaching policies, and cultivating professional relationships with fellow coaches and officials.

 

CER ETH 101 – Best Practices in LTS USA Programs

The objective of CER ETH 101 is to outline the best practices of successful Learn to Skate USA Programs. While you go through the content, critically assess the program you are involved with and rate how well your program does in the different areas of importance. Regardless of what role you play within the program, it is important for everyone to have a full understanding of the key components of success. Be mindful that there is not just one right answer or only one model that works but instead there are several key factors that all successful programs have in common.

 

CER SCI 100 – Coaching the Young Skater

CER SCI 100 – Coaching the Young Skater is designed to help coaches become familiar with the early and middle stages of child development. Demonstration and examples of how coaches must adapt coaching methods and coaching style to endure safe and effective coaching practice are presented. In addition, the course touches on current practice in talent identification, and the nurturing and development of emergent talent. The course includes a general conditioning section geared toward the 6-11-year-old athlete.
